Anne’s Response: NHS England’s proposed implementation of the Cass Review

NHS England’s implementation of the Cass Review is as devastating as expected for trans youth seeking support. Once again politics overrides compassion as timely access to healthcare is denied as the NHS seems set in a pathway of patholigisation.

This move is deeply disappointing but not surprising.

Delaying or hindering access to healthcare for trans+ youth is not a neutral action. It is conversion therapy.

At Anne, we stand firm in our commitment to fight for trans people of all ages. We won’t stop advocating for the care and respect trans and nonbinary people deserve.

The planned review of adult services is indicative of a further assault on trans rights. As the UK falls further behind the international community and continues to betray the trans community, we are concerned about the status of NHS health services for trans people of all ages.
