Trans healthcare in the UK is broken, and people of all ages are suffering. Please help us provide life-saving care to those who need it.

Why give?

Trans+ and non-binary people face extraordinary challenges when accessing gender-affirming healthcare. We are seeing direct attacks on trans-inclusive care for young people, and NHS services are failing trans people of ALL ages. The lack of timely, safe, and affordable options leaves many without the help they urgently need.

Access to timely, compassionate and medically appropriate care is something that everyone needs for all aspects of their lives. Transgender people are no exception; however, their needs are often ignored and, in many cases, deliberately undermined or refused.

That’s where you come in. By supporting this campaign, you’ll help make essential, gender-affirming healthcare accessible to those who need it most.

Crowdfunder FAQs

  • We’re prioritising individuals of any age in the UK and Ireland who haven’t been able to access private, gender-affirming healthcare due to financial barriers.

    Applications are open to:

    • People who need safe, medically overseen trans supportive healthcare who have been unable to access this due to lengthy waiting times for NHS care, and cannot afford private care. This includes people who are currently self-medicating and parents/guardians applying on behalf of their children.

Please note: While families can apply for young people under 18, we cannot accept direct applications from minors, as they are unable to enter into a binding legal contract.

Our goal is to help those most in need—ensuring care is available to those who’ve struggled to access it.

  • We welcome applications from individuals aged 18 and above, as well as from parents or guardians applying on behalf of children under 18. This ensures young people can access the care they need with the support of their families.

  • We understand that almost everyone who applies will be doing so in good faith, but it’s essential to prioritise those most in need. To ensure fairness, applications will go through a screening process that includes providing proof of income and benefits.

A panel of trans and trans-adjacent team members from Anne Health will carefully review applications. After this, applicants will have an appointment with a member of our therapeutic team to confirm their capacity to consent.

For privacy and confidentiality reasons, we won’t share the personal details of successful applicants. However, recipients will have the option to provide a short statement confirming their success, helping us demonstrate that all funds are used as intended.

  • Once we have reached our initial target of £15,000, we will publish an application form on our website and share it through our social media channels.

Please note: Requests for funds for surgery, travel, medication, or general living expenses will be automatically declined.

Demand is expected to exceed available resources, but we are committed to helping as many people as we can with the funds raised.

Applicants will be informed of the outcome within two weeks of submitting their application. We will close the application form when we have allocated all available funds.

  • Every contribution helps cover access to the Anne Health Standard membership service for as long as needed.

  • Yes, if the prescribing doctor, the family, and the young person decide this is the most appropriate care pathway. We have a legal route for accessing this safe, reversible and internationally recommended pathway in these circumstances.

Despite the blocker ban being brought into place by our current government, we believe the ban to be politically motivated and is causing active harm. Politics has no place in healthcare, and the distress caused to young people and families is extreme.

We join nation and international organisations and experts in condemnation of the ban and the flawed Cass review and the NHS and governments actions following the publication of the review.

  • No, the funds are dedicated exclusively to covering Anne Health services. Unfortunately, costs like surgery, travel, medication, or general living expenses are not covered by this initiative.

  • No, medication and travel expenses are not included in the funding. Patients will need to cover these costs themselves.

  • Applications will open once we’ve reached the £15,000 target. At that point, we’ll publish the application form on our website and share it through our social media channels.

  • It’s possible. Our goal is to be transparent and manage expectations responsibly. If the number of applicants exceeds our current capacity, we may temporarily close applications to screen them and then reopen if additional funds become available.

  • We will inform people whether they have succeeded within 2 weeks of application.

  • The funds will cover Anne Health membership services only.

  • Your donation will go directly toward funding gender-affirming healthcare for transgender people who can’t afford private care. We’re committed to transparency, and you’ll receive updates about the impact your support is making, including the number of people your generosity has helped.

  • Yes. While most applicants act in good faith, it’s crucial to ensure the funding continues to support those who need it most. Each year, recipients will be asked to provide proof of benefits and income. If someone’s financial circumstances improve and they can cover their own care, we kindly ask them to step aside so that funding can go to another person who truly needs the support.

  • Yes. As long as your financial situation remains unchanged and you’re unable to afford the care yourself, you’ll continue receiving coverage. Each year, you’ll be asked to show proof of benefits and income so we can ensure the funds go to those in greatest need. If your financial circumstances improve, we simply ask you to step aside so someone else can benefit from this support.

  • As a not-for-profit all of the funds raised will go directly into funding healthcare for those who cannot afford it. When Lizzie and I began to plan our vision for Anne Healthcare our number one priority was to provide quality healthcare to trans people of all ages. We created the kind of service we would have wanted our loved ones to be able to access, whilst the NHS failed them.

Now that our paid for service is established we wanted to explore ways in which we can provide care to those who cannot afford it and the crowdfunder is one of these routes.

  • We will fund as many people as we can from the available funds, although we hope to achieve this target if not more.

  • Then we will help even more people to access the benefits of a Standard Membership with Anne Health.
