We know that choosing a new gender-affirming care provider can sometimes feel overwhelming. That’s why we created this guide so you know what to expect.
1. Sign up to Anne
Joining Anne is quick and easy. First, you’ll be taken to a payment page to pay the £200 joining fee. Once you’ve paid the joining fee, you’ll progress to completing an intake form.
2. Complete your intake form
The intake form asks for important details, so it helps to set aside time and have your documents ready. You’ll need to provide:
- Photo ID
- Proof of address
- Evidence of any existing prescriptions
We’ll also ask about your gender and medical history, as well as your emergency contact details. If you have questions, our friendly admin team is always here to help.
Please note, if you’re joining on behalf of your child, we’ll need to see their photo ID. If your child doesn’t have photo ID yet, please get in touch to discuss your options before signing up.
Once you submit your form, we’ll review it and get in touch if anything’s missing or unclear.
3. Set up your monthly subscription
After you’ve completed your intake form, the next step is to set up your direct debit.
Once you’ve done this, and your details have been reviewed by the team, you’ll receive a confirmation letter by email. Your first pro-rata payment will then be taken on your chosen date, followed by monthly payments after that.
4. Book your intake therapeutic session
Once you’re in the intake process, you can book your first therapeutic session.
We’ll match you with a counsellor who best fits your needs. After your first appointment, they’ll decide how many intake sessions are needed before you move forward.
All sessions take place online via video call, so it’s easy to fit them into your schedule.
5. Have a blood test
Everyone joining Anne needs an initial blood test. You can choose how to complete it:
- Through your GP: we’ll share the test details, and you can send us the results
- Through a partner clinic: we’ll send you a booking link for your nearest clinic (included in your membership)
- At home: we can arrange a mobile phlebotomy service (this may incur an additional fee)
Once your results are back, a clinician will review them and invite you to book your intake medical session.

6. Attend your intake medical session
Your first medical session is a chance to share your experiences and discuss options for gender-affirming hormone treatment.
Afterwards, your clinician will create a care plan and, where appropriate, prescribe medication in line with your goals and international best-practice guidelines.
7. Arrange your prescription
Depending on the type of medication, you can either:
- Collect it from your local pharmacy using a digital token
- Have it delivered to your home.
Medication costs are not included in your membership fee, as they’re supplied externally. You may also need to purchase items such as needles or a sharps bin. We’ll guide you through that when the time comes.
8. Enjoy consistent, ongoing care
Once your intake process and prescription are complete, your regular care begins.
Regular check-ins
We’ll check in every three to four months to review your progress, renew prescriptions, and arrange any follow-up appointments or blood tests.
And you don’t have to wait for your next check-in; our team is always here if you have questions or need extra support at any time.
Blood tests
To keep your care safe and effective, we require a new blood test every three to four months. These tests help us see whether any adjustments are needed or if anything else is going on. Typically, we’ll ask you to check in with a clinician after your test, but we can arrange this appointment at a time that works best for you.

Therapeutic sessions
After your initial intake therapeutic session, we’ll ask you to check in with a counsellor every four months during your first year. After that time, these sessions are completely optional. Additionally, If you’d like extra sessions, you’re welcome to book them at a reduced rate for members.
For those under 18, regular check-ins are a core part of your care. Once you turn 18, and you’ve been with us for a year or more, these sessions become optional.
