Today, we’re really proud to share something we’ve been working on for a while: a free, comprehensive toolkit to help you navigate healthcare pathways in England as a trans+ person.

We know that right now, navigating gender-affirming healthcare can feel confusing, overwhelming, and at times deeply discouraging. Policies are shifting, services are stretched, misinformation is everywhere, and many trans+ people tell us they feel unsure where to turn for clear, trustworthy guidance.

Our toolkit, Navigating trans+ healthcare pathways in England, is our response to that. It’s here to give you clarity, confidence, and practical steps you can take when the system feels hard to navigate.

What’s inside the toolkit

We’ve brought together the questions we’re asked most often, along with the advice we share every day through our support services available by phone, webchat and email. Inside, you’ll find guidance on:

Each section includes practical tips, sample letter templates, and clear explanations of your rights. Everything has been designed to help you advocate for yourself and feel more supported while doing it.

Why we created the toolkit

We know how exhausting it can be to face long waiting lists, inconsistent GP support, miscommunication or, at times, outright refusal of care. That’s because we’ve supported our members to do the same since we first launched.

You shouldn’t have to face those challenges alone.

This toolkit brings together information that’s often scattered, inconsistent, or difficult to find, and puts it in one place: easy to understand, easy to use, and created with the trans+ community at its centre.

We want it to reach as many people as possible: use it, share it, and help empower others.

If you have any feedback on the toolkit or how we could improve it, please send us an email to community@anne.health
