How are you able to prescribe puberty blockers despite the ban?

We’ve set up a legal way to continue offering puberty blockers. If you’re interested in this, we’ll explain everything clearly during the intake process, including how it works and what your options are.

It is legal to access medication that isn’t available or is restricted in the UK and Northern Ireland if it is prescribed and supplied entirely outside of these areas. This includes puberty blockers (GnRHa medications), and it would also apply to hormones if rules change for under-18s.

We work with trusted partners outside the UK and Northern Ireland to support access.

It’s also important to know that gender-affirming hormones are not banned, and young people under 18 can still access blood tests and other parts of gender-affirming care.
