When you join Anne, you’ll meet with someone from our therapeutic team as part of your intake process. This first session is a chance to get to know each other, discuss your goals for gender-affirming care, and explore anything else you’d like to share, all in a safe and supportive space.
Your therapist will help you decide together what level of ongoing support feels right for you. For most people, this includes regular check-ins during the first year (usually every few months), and for those under 18, a bit more frequent support.
If you’d like additional counselling beyond your regular sessions, we offer extra appointments at a reduced rate for members.
Counselling is also open to non-members, so if you’re looking for mental health support from professionals experienced in LGBTQ+ care, we’d love to hear from you.
Our Lead Counsellor, Marianne Oakes, is a qualified counsellor and psychotherapist (DipCouns, PFDip, MBACP, Dip.Hyp) with a postgraduate diploma in Gender, Sexuality, and Diverse Relationships.
As a trans woman who transitioned in her forties, Marianne understands firsthand the challenges and joys of living authentically. Her personal and professional experience helps her support trans+ people of all ages, whether exploring identity, beginning transition, or navigating life’s ups and downs.
Marianne has been married for over 40 years and is a proud parent and grandparent. She’s also a writer and speaker on trans+ mental health and wellbeing.
